Google tests cars that can steer without drivers
Google Inc is road-testing cars that steer, stop and start without a human driver, the company says.

The goal is to "help prevent traffic accidents, free up people's time and reduce carbon emissions" through ride sharing and "the new 'highway trains of tomorrow,"' project leader Sebastian Thrun wrote Saturday on Google's corporate blog.

Ship with 12 sailors sinks in Black Sea, 8 rescued
A vessel with 12 sailors on board sank in the Black Sea near city of Kerch due to storm, Crimea's Emergency Ministry said Monday; Kazinform refers to China Daily.

6.4-magnitude quake jolts off Alaska's Andreanof Islands
An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted off Alaska's Andreanof Islands late Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, which hit at 0326 GMT, was centered some 100 km east-southeast of Adak, one of the Andreanof Islands that make up part of Alaska's Aleutian Islands, with a depth of 20.6 km.

Russia's Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft blasted off on Friday for the International Space Station (ISS) from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan.

The spacecraft has three crewmembers on board who are Russian cosmonauts Alexander Kaleri and Oleg Skripochka and U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly.

'One year' to clean toxic spill in Hungary
Hungary says it will cost tens of millions of dollars and take at least a year to clean up the damage caused by a spill of industrial toxic red sludge.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck off the coast in New Zealand North Island ' s Bay of Plenty region on Wednesday afternoon.
