EAC in Barcelona gathers almost 36,000 spectators on Friday
The organizing committee of the 2010 European Athletics Championships said 35,890 spectators gathered at the Olympic stadium in Barcelona on Friday, the fourth day of the competitions, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
"With a capacity of 32,000 set for the championships, media and VIPs boosted the number, with the line-up of finals exciting the crowd on a balmy summer evening in Barcelona," the official website of the championship reported.
Organizers say that the attendance of the event, which kicked off on Tuesday, is expected to remain high during the last two days of the championships in Spain.
The Russian team is currently leading the overall medals standings, boosting eight gold, five silver and six bronze medals. It is followed by France with four gold, two silver and four bronze medals and Britain (3 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze).Source: KAZINFORM
